What do you need?

Always first:

  • Unplug the thermostat.
  • Tip: When disassembling the old part, take frequent pictures, so you can easily see how to reassemble the new part.

Replacing the thermostat of the oven:

1. Remove the defective thermostat.
If you have a built-in oven, remove the oven from the stove or wall. To do this, first remove the screws holding the oven and lift the oven out.

2. Remove the back and top panel.
The thermostat is located on the back of the oven. Remove the back and top panel by unscrewing the screws.

3. Remove the defective thermostat.
Using pliers, disconnect the wiring from the thermostat. Loosen the screws on the pin sensor clamp. Pull the pen sensor out of the furnace. Pull the control knob and loosen the screws that emerge behind it. Remove the thermostat from the oven.

4. Install the new thermostat.
Place the new thermostat in the same place that the old one was attached. Tighten the screws and push the control knob back on. Reattach the wiring to the thermostat. Push the pin sensor into the hole in the furnace and screw the clamp back on.

5. Replace the back and top panel.
Replace the back and top panel and tighten the screws. Put the furnace back in place. Well done, you've just replaced your furnace's thermostat!
