Dishwasher - Prevent silver dishes discoloring

Counteracting silver discoloration:
It is recommended that you do not wash silver or aluminum items in the dishwasher. Silver and aluminum can react with air, sulfur and water, to which they can become discolored. If you do want to prevent silver discoloration in the dishwasher, make sure that food scraps always end up in the trash and not in the dishwasher. This prevents it from reacting with the silver. Rinse plates first before putting them in the dishwasher along with silver. If silver cutlery has become dull you can polish it with silver polish.
