Dometic is a Swedish company that focuses on the production of equipment for caravans. The company manufactures caravan cooling systems, heaters, doors and windows, generators, refrigerators, freezers and sanitary systems. The Dometic story began in 1919. Baltzar von Platen and Carl Munters had an idea for a refrigeration system. This became the world's first refrigerator. Even Einstein thought it was a brilliant idea. They founded a company called Arctic in 1923. Soon the company became popular, so Electrolux quickly bought it. After the Second World War, the refrigerator becomes a common household appliance.
Electrolux decides to enter the American market in the 1950s. In the 1960s, its leisure equipment division was given its own name: Dometic. Dometic remained Electrolux until 2001. In 2001 Electrolux sold its interests in the leisure market and Dometic became an independent company.
In the following years Dometic remained true to its original values. In 2015 the company went public. Its shares are traded on the Nasdaq Stockholm. Today, Dometic operates 27 factories and warehouses in 12 countries and sells its products in 100 countries. Dometic is active in the Americas, EMEA and APAC.
