Do you want to replace the door switch of your tumble dryer, but you're not sure how? No problem, with this step-by-step plan you'll have your door switch replaced in no time!
What do you need?
Always first:
There are several ways to replace a door switch. Replacing a door switch varies from brand to brand of dryer. If the door switch is attached to the front plate with screws, use method 1. It may also be that the entire front plate must be removed to replace the door switch. In this case, use way 2.
Replacing the washer dryer door switch:
Way 1: The door switch is secured to the front plate with screws.
1. Detach the door rubber from the front plate.
Open the door of the clothes dryer. You can see the door switch sitting in the front plate. The door rubber can also be seen behind the door. Detach the door rubber from the front plate. You do this by pulling the end of the compression ring, which is behind the door rubber, loose with a flat screwdriver. Push the loose door rubber into the drum.
2. Take out the old door switch.
You can now reach the back of the door lock with your hand. Loosen the screws from the door switch on the front plate. If there are no screws, press the latch. You can tilt the door switch slightly and pull it out towards you. When the door switch is loose from the faceplate, the wiring comes out. Disconnect the wiring.
3. Install the new door switch.
Take the new door switch and reattach the wiring in the same way. Put the door switch back in its proper place. Screw the door switch screws back in or snap the door switch back into the latch. Reattach the door rubber from the drum to the front plate. Replace the snap ring so that the door rubber is secure. Well done, you've replaced your clothes dryer door switch!
Way 2: Detach the total front plate from the unit.
1. Loosen the flap that holds the filter behind it.
On the bottom is a flap that holds the filter. Loosen this flap and unscrew the screws that emerge. The plate at the bottom can now be taken off. Take the soap dish out according to. You do this by pressing the pin that sits at the back when you slide the soap dish open. Here also screws will appear. Remove these screws.
2. Detach the front plate.
At the bottom, loosen the screws holding the front plate in place. Detach the front plate. In some cases, you may need to first detach the control panel before the faceplate can be detached. To loosen the control panel, first loosen the top plate of the unit. Turn the dryer over and loosen the screws on the top plate. Remove the top plate. Also loosen the screws holding the control panel in place. Lay the control panel aside, but try to leave the wiring attached. This is because the wiring does not need to come loose.
3. Take out the old door switch.
You can now see the door switch. Take out the old door switch and disconnect the wiring.
4. Install the new door switch.
Take out the new door switch and reattach the wiring in the same way. Put the door switch back in its proper place.
5. Put the front plate back in place.
Reattach the front plate. Replace the sieve tray and tighten the screws. Reattach the front plate at the bottom by tightening the screws near the filter. Replace the filter cover. Well done, you have replaced the door switch of your clothes dryer!
