Bauknecht was founded in 1919 by Gottlob Bauknecht. Originally, Bauknecht is a German company. In the early years, the company was based in Neckartenzlingen. Many years later, only in 1971, Bauknecht added came out with their first dishwasher. A few years later, in 1976, Gottlob Bauknecht passed away. He lived to be 82 years old. 6 years after his death, in 1982, Bauknecht unfortunately went bankrupt and Gottlob's son was forced to sell the company. The company was then sold to Philips. In 1989, Bauknecht came under the ownership of the American company Whirlpool. As a result, parts and accessories will often fit both Whirlpool and Bauknecht appliances. Today, Bauknecht has several factories spread throughout Europe. For example, they have several factories in Germany and Italy. Furthermore, they also have factories in France, Sweden and Poland. Bauknecht is marketed by Whirlpool as a true quality brand. In this way, Bauknecht has become known worldwide. Important values of Bauknecht are: healthy living, comfortable living and environmentally conscious living. The slogan Bauknecht has had since 2004 is "Heute leben," or "live today."
